1. Number the bags from 1-25

2. Decorate the bags with your stickers, stamps and any other decorations you would like.

3. Put one beer in each of the bags. Then tie bag so the beer can't be seen.

4 Email Newsletters You Need To Be On

Yes I know this seems like an odd topic since for years I've been trying to cut down on my inbox clutter. Sending me an email is always the best way to give me information, I might slack sometimes on the response (sorry Mom!) but I always read them. So I've been working to make my inbox more efficient and work for me, not against. I've found four fantastic email newsletters you definitely need to be on.

1. 1440
A local Chicago startup 1440 brings all the top news to you in one email without having to search all over. The best part is it's not just top news stories like some emails. You're getting a couple top headlines from four important areas: Culture, Entertainment & Sports; Science & Technology;
Business & Markets; Politics & World Affairs.

My favorite section is the ETCETERA section. Which always includes fun random articles and my favorite the Historybook with a few things that happened on this day in whatever year. It's really perfect info to store away for that trivia night someday!

2. The Muse
If you're looking to improve yourself career wise The Muse is the perfect email for you. You'll find articles like "This Is the Email Smart People Send When They're Rejected for a Job" or "Dear Managers: This 3-Word Formula Makes Giving Feedback Easier". They're not just sharing articles about jobs specifically but there are so many that are about improving your adulting as well. One example is "Why Is it So Hard for You to Say 'Thank You' When You Get a Compliment?". Won't lie I'm still terrible at that one most of the time!

3. Elevator
If you've ever heard of this one or now checked it out you'll see it's technically a mailing list for guys. Won't lie there are definitely some things about this one that I'm a little eep about, like the sexy chick instagram image that's always at the top but there are always a couple of great and fun articles in each email, like "26 time-management tricks I wish I'd known at 20". Another great feature is that in the email they give you a brief takeaway of the article this avoids the whole realizing halfway through that this article is lame and not for you.

4. Thrillist
I think most people are familiar with Thrillist by now but if you're not go sign up now!! You can sign up for a specific city, with over 40 including some international it's bound to cover most people. Even though I get the Chicago version they don't just share stuff related to Chicago. They cover important things like "The Best Food From Every State that Ships Nationwide", clearly very important things! This is definitely the one I look forward to most since it's more on the lighthearted side most of the time.

Do you have a go to informational email you love getting in your inbox? Sound off in the comments!

6 Holiday Movies to Binge on Netflix

Now that we're over the Thanksgiving hump it's time to break out the Christmas and holiday movies!! There is nothing like kicking off the season with some wonderful Hallmark, Lifetime and other various made for TV movies, popcorn, hot chocolate and maybe a little black Friday shopping. Although let's be honest these are binge worthy movies any time of the year.

Start your Netflix binge watching engines with my top 5 favorites!

Christmas Crush
Girl peaks in high school ... goes to reunion expecting miracles with jerk ex-boyfriend ... girl realizes high school is over and she's way better than all that crap ... girl realizes who the real awesome guy in her life is. Hint it's not the ex!

The Spirit of Christmas
A lawyer bent on selling a Vermont inn is getting push back from a ridiculously handsome ghost. This is a Christmas movie that was made for me between the romance and the historical mystery it has me sighing every time I watch it.

Christmas Kiss
This one for me was the gateway Christmas movie. A friend of mine had suggested it a couple years ago and from there I literally binged on all the others the same weekend. Christmas Kiss is a sort of Cinderella tale but with an evil conniving boss who tries to take the credit to keep the guy.

Christmas in the City
For those who are looking for a sweet tale of a hardworking woman just trying to keep Christmas merry and bright while saving her family store while she's at it.

A Christmas Kiss II
While not quite as good as the original and with the brother coming off slightly creepy at times Christmas Kiss II does redeem itself with innocent romance and good triumphing in the end.

Do have a favorite Christmas and holiday movie?

American Writers Museum

I finally got a chance to visit the much talked about American Writers Museum!! Since it's opening this past May there has been much press and chatter about this museum that doesn't have a collection or exhibit artifacts, both in the museum community and everywhere else.

The first area past the entrance to catch my eye was the Children's Literature Gallery. With large scenes from some of my favorite children's books and fun interactives what's not to love. What I didn't realize was that the tree mural, by Paul O. Zelinsky, featured a number of squirrels reading some of the most cherished children's books out there. Not only were they reading them but the squirrels themselves hinted at the stories as well!

While I moved on next to the Nation of Writers section, you can really go any way around this looped space, there is no right or wrong path. The photos hardly do this exhibit justice. The colors were so vibrant and pulled you down the long hallway. To the left you were taken through time with 100 of the most influential authors. On the right the you found 100 important writers of all sorts from songwriters like Prince to poets.

There are two changing exhibit spaces. One of which is set aside for a specific author, "Laura Ingalls Wilder: From Prairie to Page" opened on November 18 and runs through the spring in one of the spaces. The other currently features "Capturing Stories: Photographs of Writers by Art Shay". I love the part where you can caption the photos. There were some very creative people! I particularly enjoyed the Greek dancers for multiple reasons.

One of my favorite parts of this museum is the fact that it's just teeming with life. Usually when people are in museums you feel this way but I'm talking about the exhibits themselves. Throughout every inch you're able to move something, experience it or it's moving on it's own. The photos and mini videos don't even begin to do the life you feel justice.

"The Mind of the Writer" doesn't focus on a specific writer or author but pushes you towards the creative process of writing. Myself, and most people who come through it seems, love the typewriters. I have memories of visiting the church secretary while Dad was working and wanting so badly to play with the electric typewriter she had that was the spitting image of the blue one on exhibit.

As I've said many times I'm a reader, you put in an exhibit and I'll read all the labels but here the was just so much to take it it's almost overwhelming! I definitely look forward to returning to see details that I didn't catch the first time around.

Marriott Lincolnshire Grand Re-opening

Last week Kevin and I got the opportunity to enjoy the grand re-opening of the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort last week. We've enjoyed shows in the theater before but never had the opportunity to visit the restaurants or stay over. Needless to say we were very excited to do both. You walk in and are greeted by this beautiful massive lobby area. The couches were super comfy and I could totally see hanging out here in the morning with some hot chocolate.

We hurried out to the area where the official ribbon cutting would take place. Obviously didn't want to miss that part!! They set off fireworks and there were even two performers from their current production of Newsies that sang. Very cool even though it was freezing out.

Since we were already on the other side of the lovely outdoor pool space we decided to grab dessert first and then head back for dinner. I'm not usually a bread pudding person but it was so good, the homemade marshmallow and pecans just made it over the top.

We enjoyed whiskey and drinks made from honey that is cultivated on the property by their honeybees. The enjoyed some of the best food we've had in a while. Dishes like brie wrapped in prosciutto, short ribs,

They had stations set up where you could check out all of the amenities. For obvious reasons my favorite was checking out the spa and enjoying a 10 minute chair massage. The service menu looks ridiculous! I think it would be really neat to add the chakra balancing on to a massage.

One of the things I really enjoyed were all the little details that were around the resort. The leaves on the wall in our room, these cute little trees in the hallway and everything in between. Kevin wanted to help show the honey off in the gift shop. Clearly he's on his way to becoming the next Vanna White!

After a fun evening we headed up to our room. We both thought it was really beautiful. The decor was subtle, clean and felt new.  The bed was super comfy and I loved cuddling up under the comforter after the chilly night. I will say the only thing about the stay that I wasn't a fan of was the goose down pillows. Even doubling them up they weren't enough and I ended up squished again the headboard at some point during the night.

The renovations at the Marriott Lincolnshire were fantastic and the food was worth the trip up north. I can't wait for our next visit.
